About
Yan Ruan is a Brooklyn-based writer and artist.
Born and raised in Beijing, Yan writes fiction and poetry in English, her second language. Her work has been published most recently in The Rumpus, Pigeon Pages, Volume. She is currently pursuing a MFA in Fiction at Brooklyn College.
Yan also holds a Ph.D. in Social Psychology at University of Rochester, where she received the Emory Cowan Award for best first-authored publication, and the APA Dissertation Research Award. Yan's research examines emotion regulation processes in intimate relationships.
